For the truely sick and demented: seduce the granny (can only be done right after the quest is finished). Tell her to follow you. Take her to the temple of Skorm. Sacrifice her at midnight. Get a big chunk of evil points (around 450) and a nice prize (Skorm's bow if you're lucky).
Note: At the temple of Skorm, your chances of getting stuff is better if you are good, as opposed to being already evil. |

If you go to the cave before talking to Rose (old woman) the door to the moonlit chamber will be locked.
I didn't find this out until my 3rd time through the game, and got pissed off that I acctually HAD to talk to her, so I made her fall in love with me, and then killed her. |

Izzy [ old one ]
Let's go back to the quest. Has anyone else realized that this is *the* prime quest for the Save Hero and Reload cheat? If you start at Rose Cottage, getting the 500 gold from the chest and the silver key from the ring, then enter the cave and do at least the larder, where you get a Will Master's Elixir, and the main cave, where you get 1,000 gold and a flame augmentation, then Hero Save and reload him, it will start all over at Rose Cottage! Endless Will Master's Elixirs! 1,500 gold at least, not counting what you get from the hobbes! Flame augmentations you can use or sell off! And so much experience that you can raise all seven main categories -- 3 Strength, 3 Skill, Mana -- at least two levels each. I think I've killed my CD, actually, because I wanted a really, really long mana line. LOL@me. I wonder if they'd give me a new one if I said how I killed it. |
18.05.2006 | 07:02 | [60]
Izzy [ old one ]
Oh, and you can warp back to the Heroes' Guild to use the experience points up, too, as long as you do it at the beginning before you enter the Rose Cottage area, i.e. immediately after the reload. BTW, forget the Demon Door; you can't get more than one outfit, so it's a waste of time to do it when there's a lot of great stuff at the Caves to spend your time on, and you can pick it up on the way to the Traders in Darkwood, if you want. |
18.05.2006 | 07:05 | [61]
Izzy [ old one ]
Oh, and this part of the game gives you back more Will Potions than you use up, as well as so many haunches of red meat that you start a restaurant. I sold 75 off and then acquired another 30. (I wonder about those haunches of red meat you get from the Hobbes, given what the Bandit in Cave 1 seems destined for, but surely Lionhead wouldn't countenance anything really sick, would they? <weg>) |
18.05.2006 | 07:08 | [62]
Izzy [ old one ]
Sorry, last comment -- endless silver keys, too. I am so glad Enigma laid out the cheat for getting Avo to grant youth multiple times, because it's the same method. I can't even claim to be original, just opportunistic. But what a blast. I really hope I haven't killed the CD.... |
18.05.2006 | 20:49 | [63]
crimson robe [ old one ]
you are a very helpful person
|
19.05.2006 | 06:46 | [64]
Izzy [ old one ]
Thx, Crimson Robe. <G> BTW, you apparently can't drive your mana line up past halfway across the screen. But getting it there early on makes all the fighting easier. You don't have to keep topping it up every third strike, ya know? Thank Enigma, though. It's just a new take on his/her inspiration. (I didn't kill my disc, though it's kinda beat up. Just that save, and I think it was Symantec's automatic download at the wrong time that screwed it up. I went on from an older save just fine. So don't be afraid to try this, okay?) |
19.05.2006 | 15:43 | [65]
death [ old one ]
izzy you type really long comments and if i wasn't confied by time and liked reading alot i would read them. by the was how did you get the name Izzy? just Curious. |
20.05.2006 | 03:18 | [66]
Izzy [ old one ]
I borrowed a nickname from a friend with her permission to use online, and it happened to be the nickname that would be natural to my coined netname. I didn't want to just go ahead and use 'Izzy' without asking, ya know? |
20.05.2006 | 03:20 | [67]
Izzy [ old one ]
Death, try just reading one sentence. The first sentence of the posts here on this quest tells you pretty much everything important, and the rest is just explanations or how-tos. <G> |
21.05.2006 | 06:45 | [68]
Izzy [ old one ]
Death, just for you I'm going to break down the info so it's more digestible. <G>
1. This is the Save Hero and Reload cheat and the loot is fabulous. |
21.05.2006 | 06:46 | [69]
Izzy [ old one ]
2. Start at Rose Cottage. Ignore the Demon Door and go right to the backyard to grab the 500 gold and the key in the ring of poppies. Then go talk to Granny and get the octagon key. |
21.05.2006 | 06:47 | [70]
Izzy [ old one ]
3. Head to the Hobbe Cave and be sure you have all the potions and a decent sword (Wellow's Pickhammer works okay) for a major battle. |
21.05.2006 | 06:49 | [71]
Izzy [ old one ]
4. Kill all the Hobbes in the Cave Entrance area, loot them, and open the door where the man is calling for help. Kill the hobbes there and do whatever you want with the bandit. There's not much loot here, just EP. |
21.05.2006 | 06:50 | [72]
Izzy [ old one ]
5. Enter the Hobbe Cave entrance area and kill all the new hobbes there. Enter the second door to the larder and kill the Hobbes there. Loot it, and get the Will Master's Elixir and drink it.
|
21.05.2006 | 06:52 | [73]
Izzy [ old one ]
6. Enter the Cave Entrance area again and kill all the Hobbes in it. Work down to the Main Cave area and enter it.
Kill all the Hobbes there, loot them, and grab the 500 gold in the right side chest and then the 500 gold AND the flame augmentation in the left side chest. |
21.05.2006 | 06:54 | [74]
Izzy [ old one ]
7. Save Hero. Here's when you can go to the Heroes' Guild to get more potions if necessary, or not. Whatever you decide to do, after you've done it, reload Hero Save and start all over again at Rose Cottage getting the 500 gold, the silver key and the hexagon key. |
21.05.2006 | 06:56 | [75]
Izzy [ old one ]
8. Repeat until you've got all the EPs you want and have driven your mana bar halfway across your screen, which is as far as it will go. |
21.05.2006 | 06:58 | [76]
Izzy [ old one ]
9. If you've built up your EPs enough to level up on anything, after a Hero Save and before you reload, go back to the Guild and level up. <G> Do it again and again as you repeat the process. |
21.05.2006 | 06:59 | [77]
Izzy [ old one ]
10. This is a will user's and spellwarrior's dream. The Will Master's Elixirs never stop until you're full up. Even if you play past the point when your line's maxed out, you can still drink the elixirs to fill up whatever you've lost during the initial fights. |
21.05.2006 | 07:00 | [78]
Izzy [ old one ]
11. It is also a very good thing to have a slew of Flame Augmentations, which you can use or sell off. There's gold in them thar red oval thingies. |
21.05.2006 | 07:04 | [79]
Izzy [ old one ]
12. This is a very obliging cheat, too. You get back more Will Potions than you use plus about a hundred haunches of meat, no exaggeration, if you're going for leveling up on everything twice. Sell what you can't use, use what you can. |
21.05.2006 | 07:07 | [80]
Izzy [ old one ]
13, When you're sick to death of killing Hobbes, play the last game through as your regular quest. Open the Demon Door at Rose Cottage, and continue past the Main Cave area to the Moonlit Tunnel and save the kid. Good luck with your boasts, btw. |
21.05.2006 | 07:11 | [81]
Izzy [ old one ]
14. After you finish your quest and are at Rose Cottage as the kid runs away, go back to the Hobbe Cave and kill the Earth Troll and all the Hobbes in the Cave and run out again, killing the Earth Troll and going directly to the Demon Door. Your Combat Multiplier will improve if you've gotten more strength and speed leveling up. You can't do the Demon Door and the quest at the same time, and you've got to do the quest first, which makes sense, at least to me. <G> |
21.05.2006 | 07:17 | [82]
Izzy [ old one ]
15. I really hope this helps, and that it can make the game more enjoyable by getting Hero bulked up in every stat and making the rest of the game more of a challenge. HAVE FUN! (BTW, my disc is corrupt now and I probably won't post again, so this is my thank-you to everyone who answered my questions and helped me out. <VBG> Bye for now!) |
21.05.2006 | 07:19 | [83]
Izzy [ old one ]
P.S. I didn't try it, but you can probably store up Will Master's Elixirs and try selling them in Snowspire Village in the second game. It might be worth trying....
|
28.05.2006 | 18:48 | [84]
Izzy [ old one ]
I can't stay away, even tho' my disc is corrupt and I can't play any longer. LOL@me. I just realized it might be interesting to load up on Will Masters' Elixirs *until* you play the quest all the way through but leaving the larder alone during the whole quest. That way, there should still be a Will Masters' Elixir in the larder if you decide later in the game that you want some of them for barter. Some of us have a more limited tolerance for killing hobbes than others.... |

10.07.2006 | 02:13 | [92]
Dog [ old one ]
This quest is hard. Well...sort of... it's hard to keep the Hobbes away from the boy. |
14.07.2006 | 05:53 | [93]
Cardinal Cape [ old one ]
Use a big spell on the hobbes like Divine Fury 3 or 4 or Enflame 3 or 4. You need lots of will potions to keep yourself fired up, and chainmail suit if your will line drops too low to keep both the personal shield and the spell going at the same time. |
14.07.2006 | 05:54 | [94]
Crimson Cape [ old one ]
The Hobbe Cave quest isn't even available cuz your renown's too low at the earliest time you get the Trader's Escort through Darkwood quest. So it isn't easy. |
14.07.2006 | 05:56 | [95]
Cardinal Cape [ old one ]
Sorry, the last was supposed to be Cardinal Cape, not Crimson Cape. Anywho, how you get big spells is by doing the Hero Save and Reload thing during training. Build up as big a score as you can before you leave the Guild and buy the shield, maybe extra power too. |
14.07.2006 | 05:58 | [96]
Cardinal Cape [ old one ]
When you're doing the Guild Training Hero Save and Reload, each time score the iron katana, the oak crossbow and the resurrection potion in your exams. Sell them to the Guild vendor. You can't keep the katana or crossbow anyway so they're gone the next time you reload. |
14.07.2006 | 06:01 | [97]
Cardinal Cape [ old one ]
After the second or third sale of your exam prizes, you'll have enough money to buy all the will potions, and then you can start selling them back to the Guild vendor and repurchasing them and reselling etc. until you build up a bunch of money. Buy a name, get chainmail and think about weapons you might want longterm. BTW, always end the buy-sell with a purchase of all the will potions, then save and reload. By the time you're finished, you'll have all the magic power you'll ever need. Good luck! |

13.09.2006 | 12:35 | [101]
Dale! [ old one ]
Guys this is so easy if you play it right!!! All you need to do is run through the entire level until you get to the boy kill the fairy and run out. Dont wait for the boy to catch up just get out of the caves until your safe! Then you can go back in to finish them off! Using the shield / Combat multiplier trick can mean some pretty big experience bonuses quite early in the game!!!! PS Enflame is very handy for clearing some running room!!! |
19.09.2006 | 16:37 | [102]
death [ old one ]

After maximizing physical shield, all hobbes must bow before me or perish in the flames of death. Then I took the boy home, found out that his granny was a slave driver, killed her and robbed her house. |

i always let the bandit out. if he survives till the fairy, i usually make the trade, then kill the fairy anyway. its not that i try to be evil, i just do what makes the most sense to me. its like when u first start as a kid. y only do good deeds? i do all the bad deeds too, so i can maximize income. |

if you try to be evil since the beggining... the game will be very hard and the merchants will be gone forever, all the roads will be full of guards. This game is designed for good heroes. :/ |

The Fifth Horseman [ old one ]
my roads are never full of guards...maybe one or two once in a while, but then they appear even when im full good. and merchants never run in fear of you for a very long distance, and you can still talk to them regardless. the only reason i usually stay partially good is because of the children in bowerstone south, especially that one that makes a noise like "EEEEEOOOOO!!!!! EEEEEOOOOO!!!!!" in a voice high pitched enough to shatter solid rock. never had a prob other than that with being evil, but yeah, i agree that it definitely is easier playing if youre a full good guy. |

Cheater [ old one ]
you can sacrifice that body gaurd in the bandit camp at any time, at least after you have done the twinblade quest. and you can get infinate silver keys during THIS quest. just take quest fromthe guild and go to the rose cottage. don't go to the cottage just yet. dig up the silver key, and maybe get the 500 gold there, too. then hero save. then reload the save. then repeat. |

this is for all who heard about th ifinate key thing here it goes.get quest from giuld. go to rose cottage but dont go in (yet). world save , go in dig the key get the 500 gold and hero save. load to world save you did just before you went in.now repeat until satisfied. also for origanal you can do it as much as you want. but in tlc 15 times your done, only do it like 10 because the game starts slowwing down and 15 you just got yourself a coruppted file congrats you have to start anew game. happened to me so i had to start allover. the second time around i went to key #16 (i only had 15 because i didnt get the one in rc) then i did the rc thing and got five had 20 got the murren graethammer in guild because that is highest chest in origanal albion. then fromm got the ones all the way till hook coast one(this is order from silver keys section fromm this site) it came to exactly 10. i was done didnt need to worry about keys now. |

If you like money, augments, potions (mainly health, but a Will Master's too, if you have 5 silver keys), red meat, renown, and points towards getting a halo... this is the best place to use the Hero Save option.
~Grab the Quest Card (if you haven't already) then World Save.
~Gate to the Greatwood Portcullis Gate, then run your butt to Rose's Cottage. (It'll auto save here, but don't worry about that.) Go to the door of the house and select the door, skip or wait through the cut scene, getting the key along the way.
~Run back out, take a right, then into the Cave you go. First door on the right, kill the Hobbes and ignore the yelling guy. As you kill, grab the exp orbs and loot, because sometimes the cut scene makes things vanish. After all the Hobbes are dead, Bandit man will do a cut scene (yawn, hit Y), and then ask if you want to join him. +20 Good = B/no, +20 Bad = A/yes.
~Exit this room to kill the Hobbes now rushing to come say 'hi', they're worth +2 points in the good direction, per kill. After they're dead, go into the door on the left side of the tunnel. Kill the Hobbes there (don't hit the barrel, or you'll get 'sploded), then grab the health potion on the ground, and the WIll Master's Potion from the blue chest.
~Exit again, and head down the tunnel. Open the door at the end, kill all the Hobbes in the room, then open the chests. 1000 gold and a Flame Augment are yours for keeps. This is where I always Hero Save, then Load my World Save from before.
All together, you should get about 2k gold, 5-10 health potions and red meat, a Flame Augment, +30 good points, +50 renown, the lovely Will Master's Potion, and a crap load of experience. You can wash, rinse, and repeat as many times as you can stand. In about two hours, I had enough to buy: the Marital House in Oakvale (without even selling first), Divine Fury, level 3 health, level 3 speed, level 2 & 3 mana, and level 1 & 2 Fireball. |
