can't complete [ old one ]
HOM&M V: Missions I, II, III
I can't complete this one somehow. I managed to get all the castles except for the headquarters, and created only one huge army for Findan and defeated the headquaters right after. But the objectives are not checked as if they were not completed. Godric is with Findan for already months. I dont know what to do to make it finish.

Here's another approach: Go find Goderic and take him to surface. He can use diplomacy to allow the recruitment of Garrison 2 troups.

a better way [ old one ]
i completed this map very easily (with version 1.3). instead of freeing godric after capturing haven cities, go underground and free him right away. take him to darrison 2 so that all troups in it will join him. you should be able to do this during the fisrt 3 weeks. with garrinon's troups joining godric, he will be overpowered and should easily capturing most of the cities. keep zehir underground to capture all mines as you will need them to updrage cities (there will be nearly no mines on surface). as i said do this and the rest will be a piece of cake.

i dont know why this guide says mission one is "simple and relaxing"...this is, by FAR, the most difficult iv've come across. up to this point i';ve beaten every mission on Hard, and i cant even beat this one on normal!!! i tried leveling my hero to lvl 10 then attacking the castle, only to have a "easy hero battle" with 244 skelton archers, 195 ghosts 23 spectres and 11 zombies. i obviously got crushed...

i tried rushing the castle around lvl 5, and was greeted by an army about half that size -- got crushed. i tried rushing right away, at lvl 2...crushed again. maybe you got a miracle randomizer for the army, because im not able to beat this one. any help?

PLZZZZ can u help me i can't capture Al safir. Titans and archmages are just too powerful. The guide said that fire elementals are best against titans but i dun see anything which makes them better than the others. And now when they have some 30 titans 30 fire elementals are useless.

What have i done now:

I have left the Al safir alone and captured all the other towns. I can make a massive undead army but Al safir's titans and archmages are still too strong for me. I can't attack behind the walls because i dun have war machine skill and my catapult sux. I have good spells like phenom forces and many mass effective dark magic spells but that's not enough. They wont attack me and they use titans and archmages to kill my whole army.

Can u tell me when and how should i try to capture Al safir. Because they have more powerful units than i do and now when i have captured the necropolises i could make larger army but it's still impossible to win them when they have titans and archmages. it's almost impossible to capture the city without some excellent 5th lvl spells like implosion or puppet master, but i can't learn them from anywhere. So plz help me 'cause i dun wanna use cheats.

It took me two tries to finish mission 1. The first time I took my time, built up troops, captured resources, etc. When I went to take the town it was unbeatable! So, the second time I just rushed it, captured the two recruitment points along the way and took the town no problem in the first week. Then I built up the hero and the magic guild until the level was complete.

I found Mission 2 to be quite easy, actually a little boring. It took me a long time to finish. I just took city after city, never overextending, using extra heroes to keep restocking my main heroes. By using a second hero to capture all of the mines on the east side of the map, I actually got him leveled up quite high. The hardest part were the guards on the shore of the southern island.

Mission Three was pretty straightforward, once I got passed a specific point, which took me a few tries to get right. Once I had cleaned out the underground I returned to the service, took the garrison and the first city, the one at top right. Shortly afterward I was bombarded by enemies. Once I found the right method of surviving their attacks all it took was some careful movement to secure the rest of the board.

Campaign 6, map 2 had me stuck for a bit. I figured I had made some dumb choices in map 1, so I went back, redid my hero and tried again (made sure I had the war machines this time)

Also, from the first day I built the altar of wishes and bought everything inside (also started w/ the genies as starting bonus).

Then, it was a rush to the castle! Managed to get there day 1 of the 2nd week, so only had 1 titan as well as all the undead to contend with. Managed to get through that one with heavy losses, but made it through. (Fire elementals are great, plus managed to cast "decay" on the titan with the genies so they were only around for a couple of turns)

After that one was secure, the rest was rather easy. (Well, except for that huge stack of wights (or were they wraiths) waiting at the landing point on the last island.

Once I got past them, the final castle fell with little problem. I was fortunate enough to get summon phoenix in Al Safir, so that came in real handy.

Phoenix's are are real asset! At least in 1.0. Haven't done the patches yet.

Next stop, the additions.

Rattenkommando [ level 6 ]
Well, i found the same problems as jason. For example the gargoyle dwelling is guarded by 23 arch mages. this is way to much for the small army you have at the beginning. You can't win that without significant losses. The poor little gremlins deal nearly no damage against them, and all other need wax too long to reach them. So after beating them you have lost about 80% of your army. After that you have no more chance to do anything good.

So i took another approach. I just went north, got some demons, and hurried towards the garrison and caprured it. In the first week the garrison does not have much guards. then after that i immediately attacked the town. Now here you need some luck. I got that luck: The enemy hero was out. The enemy immediately bought another hero, but this one was weak. So i managed to capture the town, loosing 50% of my gremlins. I then immediately entered, built the next building and recruited. Additionally i hired another hero, gave his troops to Zehir, and went north with the new hero. Unfortunately Zehir was left without any mana from this battle. So now i needed another luck. I got it: The enemy hero decided not to attack. That was good for me. Now i had the time to build, gather armies and at some point attack the enemy.

Since one of the targets is to reach level 10, the game does not end here. After capturing the town you have the time to build up, level and get anything you might find useful.

Hmmm well, M2. No idea how to capture Al Safir. I reached the town at day 2, week 2. On my way to Al Safir the blue player attacked me, leaving me with just 3 Genies, 18 Steel Golems and 1 Mage. It is IMPOSSIBLE to capture Al Safir with that. Al Safir has 20 Wights, 40 Vampires, 8 Rakshasa-Radshas, 30 Liches, 70 ghosts and 4 Titans. For counting them i just tried it. The enemy has the first turns. He wiped out the 3 Genies (leaving 4 Air Elementals). Now it's the turn of the 4 Air Elementals. They could not reach anybody. Next would be the single Mage. I don't think that he would be able to kill a single unit. Then will be the turn of the 30 Liches. They will wipe out 1 stack. Next the 4 Titans, they will wipe out the next stack. After that the 20 Whights and 40 Vampires do not have to do anything. Summoning any Elemental then would not help. The enemy will just kill my last stack the next time, ind then it's over.

So definitely rushing Al Safir is not the right strategy here!

Rattenkommando [ level 6 ]
Hmmm, M3. Since rushing Al Safir was not possible (version 1.5) i tried the classical approach. So i captured the 2 necro towns first. While doing so the enemy came via ship from the south. So the next step was dictated by this fact: Beat that enemy, sail south and capture the 2 cities. The idea behind this is cut off the enemy from as many resources as possible. I hoped the enemy would then simply not be able to buy more troops. Although i'm not sure if these troops are'nt simply added by script. Nevertheless i had now maximum income: 1 capitol and 4 other plus some (i think, 3) gold mines. Maximum income to get maximum troops.

So next step was to hire a huge necro army. Why necro? There are more available. I used several weeks to buy out all out of 2 necro towns. In the end it was about 1.7K seleton archers, nearly 1K zombies, and so on, up to 64 phantom dragons. The enemy had 58 titans, 117 Rhaksas, over 300 arch mages and so on. The fight was not easy, but i made it.

1 strange thing i observed: My troops dealt only minimal damage. The summoned 57 fire elementals where only able to kill 1 single titan per shot. The enemy arch mages killed about 250 skeleton archers in a single shot. But there was no enemy hero to add stats. So how? I've no idea.

I tried the same approach as Ratten. Captured 2 necro cities and then gathered all resources and mines and build up armies. Enemy sent out 2 or 3 ships in south and used main hero and a hired undead hero to take them out and move south. Main fight was at shore to Lorekeep, Lorekeep had a small army and was easy. I went in with 22 titans, and high numbers for the rest.

Next quest #3 I have failed 3 times. Enemy hero is too strong, tried puppet master, blind, summon elementals and still no go after taking troops from all three towers in dungeon. Freed Godric and took his army and still no go. Going to try having him take garrison and see if that works.

Hey Ironbeard,

I believe you are talking about mission-2. Try the strategy given out in this guide; it works. You should attack Al Safir as soon as possible. Just take genies, etc from your ist town and fight Al safir after defeating the guards. Another strategy for Zehir is to put some stacks of 1 or 2 gremlins only. The AI will not kill them and they will shoot at your fire elementals that you summoned as they are more 'worthy' to kill. I won this fight with only 2 stacks of gremlins left. Also, try to re-start from mission-1 and get the town ASAP before you become level-10. This way, you have a chance to learn some lvl-5 spells there.....

Hope this helps,

JS
